He wasn't feeling well for some time and was in the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital. Sadly, he didn't get better and peacefully left us in his sleep on Saturday. Further Details are awaited.

Born on November 2, 1942, in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, Dev Kohli's journey into the world of words began long before he became a celebrated lyricist. His family relocated to Delhi in 1949, and it was during his formative years spent in the picturesque environs of Dehradun that Kohli developed a deep affinity for language and literature. Little did he know that this love for words would later shape his destiny in the glitzy realm of Bollywood.

Dev Kohli's tryst with the film industry wasn't an immediate one. He embarked on his professional journey as a journalist, a career that nurtured his writing skills and provided him with a solid foundation for storytelling. His inherent understanding of human emotions, combined with his flair for expression, laid the groundwork for his later success as a lyricist.

Kohli's breakthrough in the world of Bollywood came with his collaboration with music director duo Anand-Milind. He penned the lyrics for the film "Baazigar" (1993), starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, which went on to become a massive hit. The song "Yeh Kaali Kaali Aankhen" from the film not only became a chartbuster but also marked Kohli's arrival as a noteworthy lyricist in the industry.

Over the years, Dev Kohli's lyrical magic continued to enchant audiences across generations. He contributed his poetic finesse to some of the most iconic films in Bollywood history. His association with films like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun," "Maine Pyaar Kiya," and "Shootout at Lokhandwala" further solidified his position as a master wordsmith who could effortlessly translate complex emotions into simple yet resonant verses.

Kohli's lyrical creations weren't limited to a single genre. He exhibited remarkable versatility by crafting songs that spanned the emotional spectrum, from love and longing to celebration and introspection. His words often lingered in the minds of listeners, becoming an integral part of their memories associated with the films.

Beyond the glitz and glamour of the film industry, Dev Kohli remained a humble poet at heart. His ability to remain grounded while achieving such immense success speaks volumes about his character. Despite his monumental contributions to the world of Bollywood lyrics, he rarely sought the spotlight for himself. Instead, he let his words shine and resonate with the masses.
