New Delhi: Brian Lara has been replaced as the head coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL by New Zealander Daniel Vettori.

Vettori is currently the assistant coach for the Australia men's team in addition to having previously served as the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2018.

According to the most recent information, Tom Moody (2019 and 2022), Trevor Bayliss (2020 and 2021), and Lara (2023) will lead the Sunrisers before Vettori takes over.

Prior to the 2023 IPL season, Lara had taken Moody's place, but the team finished last (tenth) with four victories and ten defeats.

Vettori has been the head coach of the Australia men's national team since May 2022 and is currently the head coach of the Birmingham Phoenix men's team at the Hundred.

His coaching experience also includes head coaching positions with the Brisbane Heat, Middlesex, and Barbados Royals in the CPL, Big Bash, and Vitality Blast, as well as spin-bowling consulting positions with Bangladesh.

In his prior role as the IPL's head coach, Vettori assisted RCB in reaching the playoffs in 2015 and the final that year, where they unfortunately fell to Sunrisers. Prior to the 2024 season, there have been three high-profile coaching-related announcements in the IPL.

Justin Langer replaced Andy Flower at the Lucknow Super Giants, and Flower later accepted the same position at RCB.

They have only won 13 games and lost 29 since IPL 2021. The Sunrisers made the playoffs every season from 2016 (the year they won the championship) to 2020, but they haven't been able to continue that success since.

They are currently captained by Aiden Markram of South Africa and are attempting to break a three-season streak of finishing outside the top four under Vettori.
