In a recent interview with The Cut, Meghan Markle discussed her life in the royal family and the reasons behind her decision not to share her children's images with UK media outlets. During the conversation, she also took aim at the British press. The release of Archie's photo was something that was expected of a royal, but the Duchess of Sussex spoke out about her choice.
Explaining her decision, Markle said, "There’s literally a structure. “Why would I give the very people that are calling my children the N-word a photo of my child before I can share it with the people that love my child? You tell me how that makes sense and then I’ll play that game." As a member of the royal family with access to social media, the Duchess of Sussex also mentioned that she and Prince Harry did not have control over the @KensingtonRoyal Instagram account they initially shared with Prince William and Kate Middleton.
She continued by saying that after the couple deleted their @Sussexroyal Instagram account, Prince Harry and she decided to forego playing the "exchange game." The Duchess of Sussex has hinted that she may be returning to Instagram in a new interview with The Cut, despite Markle earlier disclosing during her Oprah interview that social media bullying was the reason Harry and she was forced to stop using it.
Meghan's latest interview comes shortly after the introduction of her new podcast, Archetypes, on Spotify. In it, the Duchess will chat with women from a variety of industries, including entertainment, sports, and other fields, about the barriers that women have overcome to accomplish.
