Bhopal: In another shocking case of rape of a minor, Madhya Pradesh Police has arrested a councillor for raping an 11-year-old girl. The councillor calls himself the 'brother of thousands of sisters'. In fact, the independent councillor organised a mass rakhi event on the Raksha Bandhan and called himself a 'brother of a thousand sisters'. This heinous case has come to light after an anonymous letter to the police. The sender of the letter has given his name as a vigilant emanator.

According to a report by the Times of India, the accused councillor was identified as Rajendra Singh alias Kendu Baba, who was arrested on Monday. According to Baitulganj Station House Officer (SHO) Motilal Kushwaha, the police started an investigation after receiving the letter. When the police spoke to the victim, she confirmed the rape with herself. The girl spoke of taking action after which the police arrested the councillor. Police have also assured safety to the family of the victim.

According to the police, they registered a case against the accused on Sunday night and sent teams to nab him but he escaped. However, due to increased police pressure, Rajendra Singh surrendered to the police. The official said the accused had been sexually assaulting the girl for nearly a year. When the girl's mother came to know about it, she confronted the accused, but she was also threatened by Rajendra to keep quiet. A case has been registered against the accused under sections of the POSCO Act.
