Between the lockdown and the Corona crisis, many automobile dealerships in India are currently struggling with the inventory of unsold BS4 vehicles. Some of these dealerships have found a unique way to sell the remaining BS4 vehicles. Many dealerships have paved the way for registering their vehicles in pre-owned segment on pseudonymous names.

According to a Livemint report on the matter, many dealerships in the country have registered their unsold BS4 vehicles and are now eyeing sales in the pre-owned (second-hand) segment. The report further states that many dealership officials said that this is being done especially in the case of two-wheelers as the stock of BS4 vehicles in this category is much higher than that of cars and commercial vehicles.

Supreme Court had set a deadline of April 1 for the sale of all BS4 vehicles. There was some relief in March when the apex court allowed dealers to sell 10% of their BS4 stock after the nationwide lockdown ended. Livemint's report claims that many dealers are not willing to sit on indecision.
