NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that the country's citizenry trust the Border Security Force (BSF) and its 2,65,000 security troops to keep the country safe.
He said the BSF has a challenging job when he inaugurated the newly developed tourism facilities for Seema Darshan at the BSF's Nadabet Border Out Post in Gujarat's Banaskantha district.
In the midst of sand storms, blistering heat, and harsh cold, BSF personnel are protecting the country's 6,385-kilometer border, performing the mantra of lifelong duty with concentration.
Shah added that infiltration should be stopped in the Kashmir Valley, internal security should be maintained in the northeast and some LWE areas, and the two countries' relations along the India-Bangladesh International Border should be kept cordial.
He further stated that security must be maintained, even in the challenging area of the creek, and that no other border guarding force other than the BSF will be functioning in such difficult conditions.
The Gujarat government has spent Rs 125 crore on the Seema Darshan programme in Nadabet, according to the Home Minister. "Children should imbibe the feeling of respect for our border guarding force as a rite of passage, and they should also decide that after witnessing the heroics of the BSF here, they should also contribute to the security of the country," he said.
