Lucknow: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo and former Uttar Pradesh CM Mayawati has condemned the Yogi government's stand in the Hathras gangrape case. BSP supremo Mayawati has condemned the police abuse of opposition leaders who have come to meet the victim's family in Hathras case and instructed the government to change its stand.

Mayawati, in a tweet from her official Twitter handle on Monday, wrote, "After Hathras Gang rape case, BSP delegation was summoned to the police station on 28th September to meet the victim's family and to know the exact facts. The report received after the talks were very sad, which forced me to go to the media".

In another tweet, she wrote, "After that, even when the media went there, they were mistreated and yesterday and the day before yesterday, the police lathi-charged with the opposition leaders and people. It was highly condemnable and shameful. Advise the government to change its arrogant and dictatorial attitude, otherwise, it will weaken the roots of democracy".  A 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped in a village in Chandpa area of Hathras district. She was admitted to the Aligarh hospital from where she was taken to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. She succumbed to her injuries.
