New Delhi: A BTech student in Noida, adjacent to the national capital Delhi, committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in OYO Hotel. Noida Police said that the 22-year-old deceased lived in Rajat Vihar Colony. The student's name was Shivani Gupta and she was studying engineering at Jaypee Institute. Shivani lived in Noida with her parents and brother.

On Wednesday afternoon, Shivani Gupta had left the house saying that she was going to study in the library. But when she did not return home till late evening, her family members tried to contact her. When Shivani did not pick up the phone, the family members feared something untoward. He informed the police in this regard. Sector-58 police started the search for Shivani on the basis of electronic surveillance on the complaint of family members. In which the location of Shivani's mobile was found in OYO Hotel in Sector-56. When the police reached there, Shivani's body was found hanging from the fan.

He hanged himself with a dupatta. During the investigation, the police also found a 3-page suicide note in which Shivani had written "I love you papa I love you mommy". The student had written that she could not live up to the expectations of her family due to which she was committing suicide. The police have seized the suicide note and sent it to the lab for forensic examination and the post-mortem of the body has been done. At present, the police is investigating the reasons for the suicide.
