Industry: In Punjab, bicycle, hosiery and iron industry have been demanding relief in taxes for a long time. During this time, the Punjab government has also repeatedly raised the demand before the Center that since the grant of special state status to neighboring Himachal Pradesh, the industries of Punjab have started shifting to Himachal. Due to this, the state government has also been demanding special status for Punjab. To prevent migration of industries from Punjab and to pave the way for new industries, Punjab is expecting positive support from the Center in the budget.

Agriculture: In Punjab, smallholdings, non-increase in the minimum value of crops and debt waiver of debt-ridden farmers is the biggest issue, in which the state government has been seeking cooperation from the Center in its debt waiver scheme. In the Union Budget last year, the Modi government raised money in this item to provide loans worth lakhs of rupees to the farmers of the country, but there is no mention in the entire budget about waiving past loans of farmers.
