Bulgaria: The government of Bulgaria has declared Wednesday, November 24, as a national day of mourning for the 54 people who were killed in two deadly accidents.
According to the reports, a bus carrying more than 50 tourists from North Macedonia collapsed on a motorway 40 kilometres south of the capital Sofia on Tuesday, killing at least 45 people. A fire at a nursing home in the village of Royak in eastern Bulgaria killed nine elderly persons on Monday afternoon.
The Bulgarian government expressed its sympathies to the victims' families in a statement. The national flags will be flown at half-staff at all state institutions, according to the administration. Bulgarian President Rumen Radev extended his sympathies to North Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaev on Tuesday.
North Macedonia will also announce a national day of mourning for the victims of the bus tragedy, according to Zaev, who met with Bulgaria's caretaker Prime Minister Stefan Yanev the same day.
