At the same time, the month of March has been a record for multiplex theatre operators after the pandemic hit. The apex body for the industry, the Multiplex Association of India (MAI), revealed that it earned Rs 1,500 crore at the box office in March, the best ever performance (earlier the best was Rs 1,200 crore).

The final numbers for April are still being collected but are expected to remain at the same level as in March due to a slowdown in demand. The industry believes that it is ready to be a hit now. FY2023 has surpassed the financial year 2020, just before the pandemic, by rs 15,500 crore revenue tax at the box office.

Based on the trends for March and April, Gyanchandani said that the industry expects FY2023 to be the best year so far, with total revenue estimated to reach Rs 14,500 to Rs 15,500 crore. Many movies like Kashmir Files (released in March) and Gangubai Kathiawadi (February) bagged the jackpots. There was also RRR (March) which has also been dubbed in Hindi. The movie has done a business of Rs 1,133 crore in all languages. In April too, the box office has got to see the same blast. 'KGF2' alone (which was also dubbed in Hindi) has collected 1,185 crores in all languages ​​at the domestic box office.
