Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a big statement on the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) during his Bengal tour on Thursday. He accused West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee of spreading rumors that the CAA law will never be implemented on the ground. But, I say that CAA will be implemented as soon as Corona ends. Shah said that CAA was, is and will be a fact. It is noteworthy that Home Minister Amit Shah is on a stay in West Bengal. He targeted Mamta Banerjee fiercely during the rally at the railway playground in Siliguri.

Accusing CM Mamta of running a syndicate of atrocities, corruption and cut money in the state, he said that till all this will not end. BJP will keep fighting. Mamta was elected thrice, but she is not improving. Referring to the post-poll political violence in West Bengal, Shah claimed that even the National Human Rights Commission has now accepted that Bengal is ruled by the will of the power, not the law. Amit Shah took a dig at the state government for the costly electricity in the state and claimed that the electricity price here is the highest in the entire country. At the same time, the price of petrol in Bengal is Rs 115, which is the highest, whereas in BJP governments, the price is only Rs 105.

He said that Mamta didi has broken the back of West Bengal financially. At the time of independence, the contribution of the state in the country's GDP was about 30 percent, which has now come down to 3.3 percent. Referring to Gorkhas, Shah also accused Mamata Banerjee of ignoring the Gorkha people and said that the BJP has always respected Gorkhas. He thanked the Gorkhas for increasing the seats of BJP MLAs in West Bengal from 3 to 77. On this occasion, he said that the construction of 545 km long road between Gorakhpur to Siliguri has started. 31,000 crore is to be spent on this.
