Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer Gully Boy managed to impress one and all. Zoya Akhtar directorial 14 went on to not just turn out a critically acclaimed film but also a successful box office venture. But of all the things the film has earned, Gully Boy made a conscious attempt to bring the real Gully Boys on the world map and emerged successful with its crisp writing, taut direction, and nuanced performances. Audience loved the Ranveer's character Murad in the film and became the most memorable characters. So when his wife and Bollywood superstar Deepika was asked if Ranveer's performance in Gully Boy surprised her, she had the most beautiful response.
In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Deepika shared that Ranveer was a natural fit and had he not done the film, she can't think of any other actor who could have played the character. She said, “No, he was such a natural fit that if for any reason Ranveer had decided not to do the film, I can’t think of any other mainstream actor who could have pulled this off. The fact that Zoya thought of him for the role did not surprise me at all because he is hugely influenced by rap music and the hip-hop culture.”

On the work front, while Deepika has begun to prep for Meghna Gulzar's Chhapaak alongside Vikrant Massey, Ranveer will be seen in films like Kabir Khan's '83 and Karan Johar's Takht among others.
