Born to Malayali Roman Catholic parents, Frank Mario Alexander and Tresa Alexander, in the vibrant city of Dubai, Catherine's multicultural background has played a significant role in shaping her career and personality. She once remarked, "I don’t speak fluent Malayalam, it’s mostly English that we speak at home. I speak decent Hindi though and now I’m taking lessons in Telugu." However, Catherine Tresa's true calling was the world of cinema. In 2010, she made her acting debut in the Kannada film "Shankar IPS," opposite Duniya Vijay. Her remarkable performance garnered attention and opened the doors to her flourishing film career. Following this, she showcased her acting prowess in Malayalam films such as "The Thriller" and "Uppukandam Brothers Back in Action." In 2011, she continued to impress audiences with her role in the Kannada film "Vishnu."

One of the pivotal moments in Catherine's career came with the Kannada film "Godfather," where she shared the screen with the charismatic Upendra. Directed by cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Sethu Sriram, the film further solidified her position in the industry.

In 2014, Catherine made her foray into the Tamil film industry with "Madras," where she starred opposite Karthi. The film was a critical and commercial success, showcasing her ability to adapt to different languages and cultures seamlessly. Her second Tamil venture was "Kanithan," a production by S. Thanu, where she shared the screen with Adharvaa.
