Guntur: The CBI court granted permission to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Reddy to travel abroad with his family for a vacation to London, Switzerland, and France from May 17 to June 1, as reported in media.

Jagan Reddy had filed a petition in the CBI court in Nampally, Hyderabad, last Wednesday, requesting approval for his travel plans. The court is overseeing the investigation in the disproportionate assets case against the Chief Minister.

Previously, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had expressed doubts about allowing Jagan to travel internationally, citing the 11 cases pending against him.

Jagan Reddy’s legal team argued that he had traveled abroad in the past without violating any court orders. Meanwhile, with the conclusion of Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Andhra Pradesh on May 13, the hectic campaign for 175 Assembly seats and 25 Lok Sabha seats has also come to an end. The YSRCP, which swept the 2019 elections in the state, is facing the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance. Andhra Pradesh recorded a voter turnout of 78.25 percent, and votes will be counted on June 4.
