Former CBI Director Ranjit Sinha passes away, breaths his last in Delhi hospital

New Delhi: Former CBI director Ranjit Sinha has passed away in Delhi. According to media reports, Sinha, 68, breathed his last around 4.30 am on Friday in Delhi.  In his professional career, Sinha held several important positions like CBI Director, ITBP DG. At the same time, he was accused of corruption.

It was CBI who had also registered a case against him in a corruption case. He was accused of trying to influence the probe into the coal allocation scam while holding the post of CBI Director. The apex court had ordered the CBI to probe Sinha's suspicious role. Three months after the order, the CBI had registered an FIR against Sinha.

Ranjit Sinha, a retired IPS officer of the 1974 batch, served as director of the CBI for two years between 2012 and 2014. Ranjit Sinha had approached the apex court following a controversy arising out of his alleged meeting with some coal allocation accused at his residence as CBI director.
