New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the homes of K Rajesh, a Gujarat cadre IAS officer, in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat on Thursday.
Multiple searches are being done at Rajesh's apartment and other locations, according to a senior CBI official. The searches were carried out after the CBI's Delhi section filed a corruption complaint against him.
When Rajesh was the district magistrate of Surendranagar in Gujarat, he was accused of corruption while providing guns licences, according to the official. A cloth merchant who collected the bribe on his behalf has already been apprehended. In addition, he (Rajesh) was involved in numerous questionable land deals.
On Thursday morning, a CBI team arrived in Gujarat and launched search operations in Gandhinagar, Surat, and Saurashtra. The team also looked for his hometown in Andhra Pradesh.
