Lucknow: Investigation has started for illegal sale and purchase and transfer of Waqf properties of Uttar Pradesh. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered two cases against the former chairman of UP Shia Waqf Board, including Wasim Rizvi. The state government had ordered a CBI inquiry last year, whose DoPT issued a notification on 18 November.
The CBI has filed an FIR against former Shia Waqf Board chairman Wasim Rizvi. The CBI has registered a case in two separate cases of the Waqf Board. The Yogi government of UP had recommended in 2019 a CBI inquiry into the cases registered against Wasim Rizvi in Allahabad's city Kotwali and Hazratganj police station in Lucknow. Wasim is accused of land scam in the Shia Waqf Board while being the Chairman of the Waqf Board. CBI has registered an FIR in both the cases and started an investigation.
In this case, Minister Mohsin Raza said that Waqf property worth thousands of crores has been sold and ruined in the previous governments. From sending the culprits to jail, the Yogi government will do justice to the victims. This action has been taken under the policy of zero tolerance on corruption and Sabka-Saath, Sabka-Vikas, Sabka-Vishwas.
