The schedule for Board Examinations for 2018 is expected to be paused. Central Board of Secondary Education. (CBSE) and Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, (CISCE) along with some state boards have suspended the release of the schedules for the board examinations. The reason is said to be the declaration of poll schedule for the states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Karnataka.

The boards have shared that they would not be delaying the examinations, but, would wait for the poll schedule so that the exam dates can be as per scheduled. The CBSE Officials have said to TOI that the plans have been deferred till the declaration of the dates. Last year, the CBSE Board Examinations had to be delayed by 9 days due to polls in 5 states of Goa, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, and Uttarakhand. In 2018, however, the board officials have stated that the examinations would not be delayed but rather adjusted to accommodate the elections in these 4 states. Same is the case for CISCE.

As stated by TOI, Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary, CISCE has confirmed that the board is waiting for Election Commission to release the dates for poll-bound states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, Tripura, and Karnataka. All these states are completing their term in March 2018.

Students and parents are again assured that the examinations would not be delayed. There is an increased anxiety for CBSE Class 10 Board Examination 2018 as the class has reverted to the external board pattern after a gap of 7 years. The officials have confirmed they would not be adding to that anxiety and try to start and complete the Class 10 CBSE Boards in the month of March 2018. The CBSE Class 12 Board Examination for 2018 are expected to start from March 2018 but end in the third week of April. In another related report, officials have suggested a plan to shorten the duration of the exam schedule to provide more time for evaluation
