New Delhi: The exercise to set up an Integrated Military Command to enhance coordination between the Air Force, Navy and Army is underway. The Air Force has some objections to the integrated command. Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Vipin Rawat's statement has added displeasure to Air Force Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria. Because CDS Bipin Rawat described the Indian Air Force as an Assistant Arm of Army.

Air Chief Marshal Bhadauria's remarks on the strength of the Air Force come at a time when CDS Bipin Rawat described the Indian Air Force as an auxiliary unit of the Army. Rawat had said that the Indian Air Force should not have any objection to the Single Air Defence Command. The forces on the ground are expected to be supported by the Air Force. CDS Vipin Rawat's statement touched the heart of Air Force chief Bhadauria in such a situation that he rejected Rawat's statement.

He further said that the Indian Air Force is not the support arm of the Indian Army. He said that the strength of the Air Force can be gauged from the fact that it reduces any threat by going before the Army. He said the Air Force does not cooperate with the ground army but leads the forces.
