Amritsar: The Congress has convened a meeting of its Chief Election Committee (CEC) on Monday to select candidates for the Punjab assembly elections. The selection of candidates will be brainstormed in this meeting. Differences are reportedly emerging between Punjab Party unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu and CM Charanjeet Singh Channi over the selection of candidates.

CEC will also decide on the rest of the list of candidates for uttarakhand elections. The Congress has constituted a sub-committee to discuss the candidates for the remaining 31 seats in Punjab. The committee includes Congress General Secretary Organisation KC Venugopal, senior leader Ambika Soni and Punjab Congress Screening Committee chief Ajay Maken. Tell us that both Channi and Sidhu have been expressing respect for each other and claiming that whatever decision the party high command takes for Punjab will follow.

However, there are still differences between the two. Sidhu has introduced a detailed model of Punjab, but has insisted that he did not model to get a post. Talking to the media, he said, 'Cm candidate party has to decide.'
