Celebrities Rally to Support Wayanad Landslide Victims with Generous Donations

Wayanad: In response to the devastating landslide tragedy in Wayanad, prominent South Indian celebrities have stepped forward with significant contributions to aid in the relief efforts. Megastar Mammootty and his son, actor Dulquer Salmaan, have collectively donated Rs 35 lakh to the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to support the affected families. Mammootty has contributed Rs 20 lakh, while Dulquer has given Rs 15 lakh. Both have expressed their willingness to provide further assistance if needed.

Mammootty emphasized the urgency of the situation, stating, “I have contributed what I can at the moment. If the need arises, I am prepared to give more. The affected individuals are just like us, and their lives have been upended. It’s our duty to help them now.”

Additionally, power couple Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya Nazim have donated Rs 25 lakh to the CMDRF. Rashmika Mandanna, another well-known figure, has also joined the relief effort by donating Rs 10 lakh. Rashmika, who recently visited Kerala for an event, was moved to contribute following the tragic news.

Chiyaan Vikram was among the first to respond, donating Rs 20 lakh to the CMDRF. Actors Suriya, Jyothika, and Karthi have also shown their support, collectively contributing Rs 50 lakh to the fund, as reported by film tracker A B George on social media.

The Wayanad tragedy has resulted in over 280 casualties and displaced thousands of residents. Rescue operations are currently underway in the affected regions to provide relief and support to those in need.
