Jakarta: The country's central bank, Bank Indonesia, has opted to keep the benchmark interest rate at 3.5 percent. In a virtual press conference, Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo remarked, "This decision is in keeping with the necessity to maintain the currency rate and financial system stability under low inflation forecasts."

According to sources, the deposit facility interest rate is still 2.75 percent, and the loan facility interest rate is still 4.25 percent. According to the central bank, the Southeast Asian country's economic development would improve in 2022 as mobility improves following the acceleration of Covid-19 vaccination and the recovery of several economic sectors.

According to Warjiyo, Bank Indonesia is continuing to optimise all policies in order to ensure macroeconomic and financial system stability while also supporting further economic improvement initiatives.
