New Delhi: The central government has given a new gift to thousands of government employees on Holi. In which the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to give pension under the old pension system to the government employees who were appointed before 01.01.2004 but they joined the job on this date. Such employees can choose the Central Civil Services Rules, 1972 over the National Pension System (NPS).

Minister of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension Affairs Jitendra Singh has said that this order will be applicable to those employees of the Government of India. Whose appointment process was completed on January 1, 2004. Such employees can opt for Central Civil Services (Pension) Rules, 1972 or continue in the old NPS system. Singh said that this historic decision taken by the Pension and Pensioners Welfare Department will fulfill the long pending demand of such central personnel. Its recruitment process was first completed but who got the job due to various reasons, January 1, 2004, after joining the job. Since he said that the last date for choosing this option is 31 May 2020. He also informed that employees who do not choose this option till this deadline will remain under NPS cover.

Through this order, the Central Government has resolved the long-pending complaints of a large number of such employees, under which written examination, interview, and result was published before January 1, 2004. However, the employees could not join the job till this date due to various administrative reasons and other kinds of delays. From 01.01.2004, the Central Government had introduced the new pension system in place of the old pension scheme. Many central employees will benefit greatly from this decision of the central government.
