In Chennai today, a team of central Government officials reached hear to evaluate the drought situation in Tamil Nadu state. The officials arrived here after following a plea by the state government.
The team is likely to inspect the drought hit areas and with the senior officials will discuss the situation. Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on 16 January urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to appoint a team of central to assess the damage of the state.
During North-East monsoon, the Tamil Nadu recieved only 168.3 mm rainfall while it normally receives the rainfall of 440.4 mm.
