The Central government has taken a big decision regarding Ayurvedic physicians. Ayurveda doctors will now be able to perform eye, ear and throat surgery along with general and orthopaedic surgery. According to the Central Council of Indian Medicine, PG students will be given thorough information about the surgery after getting the green signal from the government.
The students of Ayurveda were still taught about surgery, but there were no clear guidelines on whether they can do surgery or not. After the notification issued by the government, now doctors of Ayurveda will also be able to do surgery. According to the government's notification, PG students of Ayurveda will be specially trained for eye, nose, ear, throat as well as general surgery.
According to the notification issued by the government, these students will have the right to perform several surgeries such as removal of glaucoma, cataracts, lumps of breast, ulcers and removal of foreign substances from the stomach. Former Advisor to Central Government Ayurveda, Dr SK Sharma expressed happiness over this decision of the government and described it as a milestone. He said that India is currently facing a shortage of surgeons. This decision of the government will be able to overcome the shortage of surgeons in the country. Along with this, patients from far-flung areas will not need to flee the city and will get high-level treatment in their area.
