New Delhi: The Home Ministry has taken cognizance of the matter of not returning the remaining money on behalf of the hoteliers after the Quarantine guidelines were changed for people coming from foreign countries. The Home Ministry has written a letter to the principal secretaries of the states asking them to take action in the matter. The rules of institutional quarantine have been amended for citizens coming from abroad. Earlier the institutional quarantine was for 14 days, but the government changed it and it was determined that those coming from abroad would stay quarantine in the hotel for 7 days and quarantine in their house for 7 days after the medical test.
Many people coming from abroad had paid money to the hotel for 14 days. After the completion of the 7-day quarantine after the release of the revised guidelines, when the people started going home, some of the hotels refused to return the remaining money. After this matter comes to notice, the Ministry of Home Affairs has written a letter to the secretaries of the states asking them to take action in this regard. The Home Secretary has said that the states are requested to issue necessary guidelines for hotels hired for institutional quarantine.
Indian citizens coming from abroad are being institutionalized in hotels. They are being allowed to exit again only after the quarantine is completed.
