Srinagar: The Central government has taken a major step in the wake of the continued killings of common people by terrorists in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. In fact, the Home Ministry has decided to send 5 additional companies of CRPF to Jammu and Kashmir. This will be followed by a total of 55 companies of security forces in the state.  Talking to the media, senior officials said that 25 companies of BSF and 25 companies of CRPF were currently deployed in Jammu and Kashmir.

The decision was taken at a high-level security meeting led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Amit Shah had arrived on a visit to Jammu and Kashmir at the end of October. This was Amit Shah's first visit after Section 370 was withdrawn from the state. After 2 assassinations by terrorists in the last 48 hours, including a policeman, they decided to deploy 5 CRPF companies. These deployments will be completed in a week. That is, 7500 additional jawans will be deployed in the Valley, which will play an important role in the battle against terrorists.

Since October, terrorists have killed 15 civilians in the Valley. These include some non-Kashmiri youths. The incidents of target killing have reportedly increased recently. As a result, most of the jawans will be deployed in Srinagar, where more cases of killing of civilians have been reported. At the same time, a top CRPF official confirmed that checking and search operations have been stepped up in the valley. In Srinagar, 15,000 people and 8,000 vehicles are being checked daily. In the meantime, a number of technologies including CCTV, drones are also being resorted to. Checking is being carried out more in places where minorities and non-Kashmiris live.
