New Delhi: The Central government has announced a number of facilities along with Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) to provide relief to its employees. These will directly benefit 52 lakh employees and 60 lakh pensioners. Minister of State for Finance Anurag Thakur had announced in the Rajya Sabha that from July 2021, according to the Seventh Finance Commission (7th Pay Commission), DA and DR would start meeting central employees.

Now the National Council of JCM, which has raised the demands of central employees, has claimed that both DA and DR will be found in the September 2021 salary. However, no formal announcement has been made so far at the government level. In a boost to central employees, the government has issued new guidelines on house building advances. The central government had raised the HBA interest rate to 7.9 percent in July 2020. The rate will remain in force till March 31, 2022. Retired employees from the Central Government will now have to submit their Travel Allowance (TA) details for 180 days. Earlier this deadline was 60 days. This new rule has come into effect from June 15, 2021.

At the same time, retired employees will no longer have to go around banks for pension slips. The Personal Department has asked pension issuing banks to send pension slips to the pensioner's mobile number through SMS and E-mail (E-mail). Not only that, they will now also get pension slips on WhatsApp. Banks will use the registered mobile number of pensioners for this purpose. The Centre's decision will provide a big relief to 62 lakh central pensioners. The new rule has come into effect from July 1, 2021.
