New Delhi: Union Information and Broadcasting and Forest and Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar, under the resolution, fulfilled the target of doubling the number of tigers four years ahead of schedule and recording it in the Guinness Book of World Records, It is a classic example of self-sufficient campaign.

139 studies were carried out at 26,760 places to count tigers in the country. During this survey, more than three and a half crore tigers were photographed. There are 2967 tigers present in the country at this time. This survey has set a new record and this comprehensive survey has been included in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar on Saturday expressed happiness over the survey being ranked in the Guinness Book of Worlds and tweeted that, under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India has four years from the time it has been set for target delivery through the resolution. First the resolution to double the tiger population has been fulfilled. The largest camera trap of All India Tiger Estimation is now included in the Guinness Book of World Records. This is indeed a historic moment for the Wildlife Survey and an unmatched example of self-sufficient expedition.
