New Delhi: The Central Government has made extensive changes in the CMVA to make driving license, registration of vehicles, renewal, simplify the process and curb corruption, giving priority to road safety. The Central Motor Vehicles Act (CMVA) has been prepared in 20 official languages to make it easy for all users to understand.

Till now the Motor Vehicle Law and earlier changes were available in English and Hindi. According to information received from sources, there was a plan to launch these provisions last month. The government has made necessary changes in the CMVA to simplify the process for driving license, registration and renewal of vehicles and curbing corruption, giving priority to road safety. Penalties have been increased for traffic and vehicle related offenses. It is expected that these provisions of the government will benefit all the people.

The Ministry has also announced for the first time that from January 18, it will conduct a large-scale road safety awareness program for the next one month. Earlier this campaign was for a week. Officials said Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari had an important meeting with representatives of NGOs and private organizations on Wednesday. It has requested to continue the road safety awareness campaign as a mission, not just to limit it to a week or a month.
