The Defence Ministry approved the procurement of military platforms and gear worth Rs 8,357 crore on Tuesday, including an air defence fire control radar and the GSAT-7B satellite.

At a meeting of the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the procurement proposals were given "Acceptance of Necessity," according to the ministry.

"Procurement of night sight (image intensifier), light vehicles GS 4X4, air defence fire control radar (light), and GSAT-7B satellite," according to the authorised proposals. The acquisition of this equipment and systems will strengthen the armed forces' operational readiness by improving visibility, mobility, communication, and the capacity to detect enemy aircraft, according to the statement.

The granting of a 'Acceptance of Necessity' allows the tendering process to begin.

All of the aforesaid ideas have been accepted under the "Buy Indian (IDDM)" category as a boost to "Aatmanirbhar Bharat," according to the ministry. IDDM refers to products that are designed, developed, and manufactured in the United States.
