Centre constructs bunkers for safety against ceasefire violation in JK

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India] Aug 6(NT): The Government of India has formed community bunkers in Rajouri's Nowshera city to offer safety to locals during cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC).

This step is taken to make sure that daily life routine and education is not interrupted in areas surrounding the borders.

Talking to ANI, Rajouri District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Aijaz Asad said that some bunkers have already been formed and many more will be accomplished soon here in Rajouri. He added that the project by the Government will be ended up soon. He further said that Schooling facility will be given in the bunkers, consequently students' time isn't wasted and their schooling is completed on time.

Worth mention here 102 bunkers have already been completed in here, giving major relief to the locals especially at the time of ceasefire violation by Pakistan.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh called for expediting construction of bunkers in May 2018 this year, along the International Border (IB) and LoC to look after the border inhabitants, in view of 1,252 ceasefire violations by Pakistan during the present year.

It is noted that The MHA has given nod for construction of Rs.415 crores of more than 14,000 bunkers in Kathua, Samba, Jammu, Rajouri, and Poonch districts. (NT)
