The Central government plans to borrow Rs.8.45 lakh crore in the first half of 2022-23 to close the revenue deficit and revive the economy, the Finance Ministry has said.
An official statement read that out of the expected gross market borrowing of Rs.14.31 lakh crore for FY2022-23, Rs.8.45 lakh crore will be borrowed in the first half (H1).
The gross market borrowing through dated securities for 2022-23 is Rs.14,95,000 crore, an official statement said. The gross market borrowing through dated securities for 2022-23 is estimated to be Rs.14,31,352 crore, it added, taking into consideration the switch operations on January 28, 2022.
The borrowing will be completed in 26 weekly tranches of Rs.32,000-Rs.33,000 crore, according to the statement. The borrowing will be split among 2, 5, 7, 10, 14, 30, and 40-year securities, as well as Floating Rate Bonds of various tenors, according to the statement.
