New Delhi: In a significant move, the central government has launched Mission Karmayogi, a transformative mid-career training program. The primary objective of these groundbreaking initiatives is to equip officers with the necessary skills to contribute effectively towards the development of an Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India), leveraging the full potential of advanced technologies.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 49th advanced professional program in public administration (APPPA) at the esteemed Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), Union Minister Jitendra Singh underscored the government's relentless efforts in fostering a business-friendly and governance-friendly ecosystem. These efforts aim to streamline the delivery of citizen-centric services, ultimately benefiting the common man.

Minister Singh placed strong emphasis on the government's commitment to combat corruption, highlighting the crucial amendments made to the Prevention of Corruption Act in 2018, after a span of three decades. This significant step ensures that both bribe givers and recipients are held accountable and subjected to appropriate punishment. Furthermore, the government is dedicated to fostering an enabling work environment that promotes individual growth and maximizes their potential and capabilities.

Mission Karmayogi adopts a cutting-edge approach to capacity building, providing government officials with world-class training opportunities based on the key principles of "role-based" and "competency-based" learning. The program seeks to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of government servants in fulfilling their multifaceted roles.

In a bid to recognize excellence in the implementation of flagship programs, the government has revamped the format of the PM Excellence Awards. The focus is now on outcomes and achievements attained through these initiatives. Officer trainees will be tasked with submitting dissertations on these flagship programs as part of their comprehensive training.

Acknowledging the rapidly evolving global landscape, Minister Singh stressed the importance of officers keeping pace with the changing environment. He also recognized the indispensable role played by emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, particularly in the defense forces.

The 49th Advanced Professional Program in Public Administration (APPPA) is an intensive ten-month course specifically designed for senior officers of All India and central services, encompassing defense services and state civil services. This program aligns seamlessly with the government's key priorities and the National Development Agenda.

Over the years, the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) has successfully conducted 48 similar programs, imparting valuable training to 1,620 administrators and officers from All-India and Central Services. The participants have included armed forces personnel, foreign delegates, esteemed Indian university professors, and officers from state civil services.
