Shimla: Another act of the Chamba Administration, the city of Himachal Pradesh, has emerged. Last year, due to the Minjar fair, entrepreneurs who came from outside the states stalls for free and went on to earn lakhs by selling gol gappas and chaat papdis. Neither the District Administration nor the local entrepreneurs got any profit from the income earned by selling 10 stalls. This action of the Chamba City Administration has been revealed in the information taken under Right to Information.

Every year, the confectioners who reach out to the fair, also earn a hefty amount by buying thousands of stalls, but the North Zone Cultural Center and District Administration gave stalls to the Halwais free of cost. Regarding the free allotted stalls, Chamba painter and RTI activist Padmashree Vijay Sharma sought information from the district administration about how much income the fair committee received from the stalls allotted to foreigners from outside states.

Chamba Collector sent the request to the SDM. The SDM said that the stall was awarded to the contractor who made the stall at Chaugan No.1. Thereafter, to whom the contractor further allocated the stall, they are not aware of it. The RTI activist sought information from the Northern Regional Cultural Center, Patiala, that in how many rupees did he buy the stall at the major Chaugan? Information about its terms and conditions should be given in writing. On this it got the answer that he was given these 10 stalls by the District Administration free of cost, and the Center has provided these stalls free of cost to the plowmen. The case is now being inspected.
