Dehradun: Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami won a landslide victory in the Champawat assembly by-election. He defeated Nirmal Gahtori of the Congress by 54121 votes. In fact, the BJP contested the assembly elections under the leadership of Pushkar Singh Dhami. In this, the BJP had to face victory.  

However, Chief Minister Dhami himself lost the election from Khatima. Even after this, the Bharatiya Janata Party made Pushkar Singh Dhami the Chief Minister. In such a situation, now he had fielded in the by-election from Champawat assembly seat. Polling for this seat was held on May 31. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said earlier that the initial trends are coming very well. Historical polling has taken place and even after counting of votes, history will be made. I am grateful to the incredible people of Champawat who supported them so much. Champawat has immense potential for development. Will consider all those possibilities.

Pushkar Singh Dhami had lost the assembly elections from Khatima. In such a situation, he was required to reach the assembly within 6 months to remain the chief minister. Champawat MLA Kailash Gahtori resigned for Chief Minister Dhami last month. Then, a by-election was held in the Champawat seat.
