Visakhapatnam: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President Chandrababu Naidu wrote to President Ram Nath Kovind and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, demanding the deployment of Central Force for the remaining phases of the gram panchayat elections going on in the state. He has said that efforts are being made to influence the election during the Gram Panchayat elections, hence the deployment of central forces is very important.

He has written to the President and the Home Minister accusing the Election Commission that the State Election Commission is unable to conduct free and fair elections in the state, the ruling Yuvjan Shramik Rayathu Congress Party (YSRCP) is continuously violating the Election Code of Conduct, and the Election Commission is not taking any concrete steps. Naidu said that members of the state cabinet are directly interfering in the election process.

In order to influence the election process, derogatory statements are being made against the State Election Commissioner and political allegations are being made against him. In his letter, Naidu further wrote that a section of the police and officers have been merged with the YSRCP and that the officers and the police are keeping their eyes closed on the mistakes being made due to this.
