All planets and astrology are considered important in a person's life. In such a situation, the moon is considered to be worshipped just like the gods and different stories have been told in our religious mythology stories of the birth of the moon. In this case, in astrology and Vedas, Moon is said to be a factor of mind and in Vedic literature, the place of Som is also found among the major deities. Along with this, mantras of praise of Soma have been composed by the sages in the same way as the gods of Agni, Surya and Indra.
It is said that according to the Matsya and Agni Purana, "When Brahma thought of creating the universe, he first created the sons of Manas with his resolve. At the same time, one of them was married to Manas son Rishi Atri to Anusuiya, the daughter of sage Kardam, from whom Durvasa, Dattatreya and Som were born. The same is believed to be a name for Som Chandra, while in Padma Purana, other information about Chandra's birth has been given. It is said that Brahma ordered his psyche son Atri to expand the world. After this, Maharishi Atri started an ascetic named Anusara.
In the same tenacity, one day a few drops of water dripped from Maharishi's eyes, which were very light. The directions came in the form of a female and with the desire of getting a son, they took the drops which became situated in the womb of their abdomen. Brahma gave a male form to that abandoned womb, who became famous by the name of the moon, and the gods and sages worshipped him and moon's sharpness produced divine medicines on the earth.
