Garhwal Mandal Development Corporation has so far canceled one crore 25 lakh bookings for the Chardham Yatra due to Corona infection. GMVN's travel office has received 2,000 emails so far to cancel the booking. Also, hundreds of calls are being received every day. In order to compensate for this loss, passengers are also being appealed not to cancel the booking. In such a situation, GMVN has given the facility to passengers that they can use their booking on time in the next two years. Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham doors are opening on Akshaya Tritiya on 26 April, while Chardham Yatra will begin with the opening of Kedarnath on 29 April and Badrinath Dham on 30 April.

But due to the global pandemic corona, the lockdown will run across the country till May 3. Bus, train and air services are completely closed, due to which the devotees from the outer areas will not be able to reach the pilgrimage on the occasion of the pilgrimage, as well as people will not be able to reach the local level in view of social distancing. Due to this, out of the four crore bookings received by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam for the upcoming Chardham Yatra till May 15, one and a half crores of bookings have been canceled. In the canceled bookings 1000 rooms in Kedarnath Dham from April 28 to May 5, Booking of cottages and meditation caves are also included.

For your information, let us tell you that SPV Rawat, Assistant Principal of Tourism Travel, GMVN, said that as of March 15, four crore bookings had been received for Chardham Yatra due to Corona infection. But in the last ten days, bookings worth 1.25 crore have been canceled. Of the bookings that have been canceled, 8 lakh 30 thousand are staying overnight in guest houses, 10 lakh tour-travels and 21 lakh other bookings. Instead of canceling the booking, passengers are being asked to consume it in the coming time. Travelers can consume their booking according to their time in the next two years. Also, they will have to pay at the same rate at which the booking was made.
