Chemical factory turned to ashes, people trembled hearing the sound of explosion

In Jammu division, a fire broke out in The Batalbaliyan Industrial Area adjoining Udhampur city and the Dhanuka Agritech factory has been burnt down. In which the loss of crores is estimated. The incident took place around 11.30 pm on Thursday. Meanwhile, 30 employees were working in night shift inside the factory. The guard immediately alerted everyone and pulled them out. Fire brigades had to be called from Katra and Jammu to douse the flames but failed. After which the Air Force has brought the fire under control by pouring water from the helicopter.

The fire that broke out on Thursday night has been completely doused on Friday afternoon. The fire erupted more in the chemical drums lying in the factory. The blasts were heard two km away. Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib and SSP Sargun Shukla are also scheduled to take stock of the spot. The cause of the fire is being attributed to the short circuit.  The pesticide has been made at Dhanuka Agritech located in the industrial area.

It is learnt that the night shift was being carried out at 11.30 pm on Thursday night.  A fire broke out in the outside of factory. The guard posted outside, who came to know about it, sounded a siren and issued an alert to everyone. The employees came out of the factory. After which the fire department was informed but by the time the fire department reached the spot, the fire engulfed the entire factory.

The fire erupted even faster as a blast in the chemical drums lying inside. The sound of flames and explosions was heard for about 2 kilometres. After the fire broke out, the Fire Ministry evacuated the houses along with the factory and evacuated about 40 families to safer places away from their homes. Dc Indu Kanwal Chib, SSP have also reached the spot on receiving information. When they noticed that it was not possible for the Udhampur fire ministry to douse the fire, fire department vehicles were called from Katra, Jammu. He also assisted the Fire Ministry of the Army. The fire was doused around 5 am after about five and a half hours of trouble. But the accident has caused huge damage to the factory.
