Results of the 2023 Chhattisgarh Assembly elections are unfolding rapidly as per the Election Commission of India's updates, indicating a slight lead for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the incumbent Congress. The elections in Chhattisgarh were conducted in two phases on November 7 and 17, encompassing a total of 90 Assembly seats.

As of 11:30 am, data from the Election Commission reveals that trends for 87 seats have been disclosed. In the ongoing contest, the BJP is leading in 46 seats, closely followed by the Congress with 40 seats. To secure control in Chhattisgarh, a party or coalition must attain 46 seats. Notably, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel is lagging in the Patan constituency as of 11:27 am, having previously been in the lead against his nephew and BJP candidate Vijay Baghel.

Furthermore, Chhattisgarh Congress's leader, Deepak Baij, is behind BJP's Vinayak Goyal in the Chitrakot seat.

The voter turnout for this election stands at 76.31%, marginally lower than the 76.88% recorded in the 2018 polls. Among the 90 Assembly seats, 51 are categorized as general seats, 10 are reserved for Scheduled Castes, and 29 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes. Notably, over 6,400 voters in Chhattisgarh have chosen to utilize the Election Commission of India's vote-from-home facility, specifically introduced for individuals above 80 years of age and those with over 40% disability in the state assembly elections.

Reflecting on the previous Chhattisgarh Assembly elections, the Congress secured a comprehensive victory in 2018, clinching 68 out of 90 seats. Bhupesh Baghel, elected from Patan, assumed office as the Chief Minister on December 17. Conversely, the BJP managed to secure only 15 seats, a notable decrease of 34 seats compared to its previous performance in the Assembly polls.
