Dhamtari: Enraged by the notoriety of theft in a village in Dhamtari, six members of the same family tried to commit suicide by consuming poison. All of them have been admitted to the district hospital by the villagers in critical condition. The condition of the injured is better than before after treatment. Police help centre officials and jawans are investigating the case.
Dilip Yadav, a resident of Village Jugdehi in Bhakhara police station area, 48 years old son Sevaram, his wife Kalindri Bai 45 years, daughter Urvashi Yadav 23 years, Tameshwari 21 years, son Sunil 18 years and Rajesh Yadav 16 years consumed poison together on the night of July 19, hurt by the stigma of theft in the village. When neighbours and villagers were informed about the incident, all of them were brought to District Hospital Dhamtari by ambulance 108 for treatment in critical condition in Anan-Phanan. The condition of all the family members is stable at present after treatment here. Sunil Yadav, an admit at the district hospital, said that his father Dilip Yadav was taken to Bhakhara police station by the police in connection with the theft on July 18. They were released in the evening after interrogation.
On the morning of July 19, the Sarpanch and panchayat officials of the village reached his house to inquire about the theft. They started talking about returning the stolen payal and Rs. 500. In such a situation, all of them consumed poison together, hurt by the notoriety of theft in the entire village. While his father Dilip Yadav and no family member have committed any theft. They are being defamed for unnecessarily by accusing them of theft, it is nothing short of torture.
