The country is still in the process of elections and in the meantime, 22 soldiers have been reported to have been martyred in an encounter on the border of Naxal-affected Bijapur and Sukma city of Chhattisgarh. Security forces have recovered the bodies of 17 missing soldiers. Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has cut his election campaign in Assam in the wake of the attack and is returning to Delhi. He is coming back after addressing one of the three rallies. The news was reported by BJP co-in-charge Jitendra Singh for the Assam elections. It is said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will arrive in Delhi today to inspect the situation in Chhattisgarh with top officials.
Senior police officers from Chhattisgarh said on Sunday that security forces have recovered the bodies of 17 missing soldiers from the spot. On Saturday, an encounter took place between security forces and Naxalites near Jonagada village under the Jagarpunk police station area of Sukma City in which five soldiers were reported to have been martyred and 30 other soldiers were injured. The bodies of two of the martyred soldiers were recovered by the security forces and the bodies of three other soldiers could not be brought to the camp. 18 other soldiers were reported missing during the incident.
He said security forces were rushed to search for missing Soldiers today. Security forces have recovered the bodies of three soldiers martyred on Saturday and the bodies of 17 other Soldiers (a total of 20 Soldiers). One soldier is being searched, so far the bodies of 22 soldiers martyred in the incident have been recovered.
