Chhetri has made emotional demands from fans even 4 years ago amid the 'Inter-Continental Cup' in Mumbai. The next day, in a stadium packed with spectators, the Indian team defeated Kenya 3-0.
The Group D matches of the qualifiers of the Asian Cup are going to be held in Kolkata, known for the football craze. Chhetri, who will be completing 17 years of his international career on the 12th of this month, has said that his presence at the 70,000-fan-capacity Salt Lake Stadium will make a "big difference".
In his message posted on the Indian football team's Twitter handle, the front-line legend said, "I mean I really love you guys. When we get along with you, we feel ourselves on a different level. The Indian team is scheduled to start its campaign against Cambodia on June 8. After which the team is going to face the challenge of Afghanistan (June 11) and Hong Kong (June 14).''
