CHAMOLI: Once again, the tranquility of Chhinka in Uttarakhand has been disrupted as boulders came crashing down from the hills, causing a blockage on the renowned Badrinath national highway. The Chamoli police department confirmed the unfortunate incident, stating that the road near Chhinka is presently impassable.

The authorities promptly took to Twitter, alerting the public about the road closure near Chhinka on the Badrinath National Highway. This stretch of the highway, also known as NH-7, has faced temporary closures in the past due to incessant rainfall and the surging Lambagad and Khachada drains in the Chamoli region.

The consequences of this road closure were significant, with commuters finding themselves stranded in the midst of their journeys. To exacerbate the situation, vehicle movement on the highway had to be restricted once again due to a sudden increase in the water level of the Khachdu drain near Uttarakhand's Lambagad on Saturday.

The closure of Badrinath National Highway 7 at Chhinka has left countless travelers, including devoted pilgrims and enthusiastic tourists en route to or returning from the revered Badrinath shrine, in a state of disarray. This unfortunate incident occurred merely a week after heavy rains triggered landslides and flash floods, leading to a blockage on the same stretch of the highway. Approximately 100 meters of the road were rendered inaccessible due to a massive landslide caused by heavy rainfall near Chhinka on that fateful Thursday morning.

Once again, nature has reminded us of its raw power, disrupting the tranquil journey to Badrinath shrine and inconveniencing countless individuals along the way. The authorities are diligently working to clear the obstruction and restore the smooth flow of traffic, ensuring the safety and convenience of all those traveling through this picturesque region of Uttarakhand.
