New Delhi: Security of Chief Justice of the country (CJI) SA Bobde has been increased. Now it has been decided to give protection of Z Plus. The Ministry of Home Affairs has changed the security of CJI SA Bobde from the Z category to Z Plus category based on the report of Threat Perception and Intelligence Bureau (IB). Earlier, CJI SA Bobde had Z category protection. Now he has been given the protection of Z Plus category.
The Z category is being guarded by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The security of the Z Plus category is available to select people of the country. It is noteworthy that Judge Sharad Arvind Bobde was sworn in as India's 47th CJI on November 18, 2019. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office to Judge Bobde. Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi, who retired on November 17, suggested Justice Bobde's name for the post of CJI. CJI SA Bobde has also been a part of the bench hearing the Ayodhya case. In 1978, CJI Bobde was admitted to the Bar Council of Maharashtra. After this, he practiced law in Nagpur Bench of Bombay High Court, became Senior Advocate in 1998. In the year 2000, he has taken charge as Additional Judge in Bombay High Court.
CJI SA Bobde has also been the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court. He took charge as a judge in the Supreme Court in 2013. On November 18, 2019, Judge Bobde was sworn in as Chief Justice of India (CJI). Justice SA Bobde will retire on April 23, 2021.
