Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee close aid investigated by CBI in Saradha scam

Kolkata: A close aide of Trinamool Congress and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee,  Manik Mazumdar investigated by  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  in connection with the Saradha scam. The development happened a couple of months after the investigative agency sent a notice to Mazumdar at TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's residence as he worked there, another notice was sent to him in the Saradha Ponzi scam.

The notice was redirected to Mazumdar’s residence. Mazumdar is a close aide of Banerjee as he works as an accountant at her place. Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday filed a chargesheet against Nalini Chidambaram in a court in Barasat Kolkata in Sardha chit fund scam.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case a chargesheet was earlier filed against Nalini Chidambaram, wife of UPA-era Finance Minister P Chidambaram, in the alleged Sharda chit fund scam. She has been accused of taking monetary favours to the tune of Rs 1.4 crores during 2010-12, as per chargesheet.

CBI in the charge sheet said Nalini Chidambaram entered into a criminal conspiracy with the proprietor of Saradha group of companies Sudipto Sen and other accused for cheating and embezzlement of funds of Saradha group of companies.
