Lok Sabha Elections 2024, Delhi to Observe Dry Days - Delhi will observe dry days from May 23 to May 25 and on June 4 due to the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The Election Commission of India has mandated the closure of all wine shops and bars during these periods to maintain public order. This directive will also apply to Gurugram and the Delhi NCR region, ensuring a fair and peaceful election process.

The dry days in Delhi will start from 6 PM on May 23 and continue until 6 PM on May 25. This decision, made by the Election Commission of India (ECI), is aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring a smooth election process.

The ECI directive specifies that all wine shops and bars in the affected constituencies and adjacent areas will remain closed during this period to prevent any disturbances on polling day. The Delhi excise department has instructed licensees not to expect compensation for these closures and to prominently display the closure order at their licensed premises.

In addition to the dry days during voting, another dry day is scheduled for June 4, which coincides with the counting of votes. This measure will remain in effect until the election results are announced to ensure public order during this critical phase.

Similar measures will be implemented in Gurugram, Haryana, and the Delhi NCR region, where dry days will be observed from 6 PM on May 23 to 6 PM on May 25. These steps are part of the ECI's efforts to ensure orderly and peaceful elections across various regions.
