Dr. Himnata Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, handed up appointment letters to Madhumita Das, the sister of dead Parinita Das, and Ruprekha Bora Senapati, the wife of deceased Indreswar Bora, who died in the Majuli ferry tragedy in 2021.

Madumita Das, Parimita's sister, has been recruited as a Lecturer at the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT). Ruprekha Senapoti Borah has been assigned to the Lakhimpur District Primary Education Officer's Office as a Grade IV employee. Parismita Das, Indreswar Borah, and his wife were passengers on the Ma Kamala single-engine ferry, which sank and perished in the Brahmaputra on September 8 after meeting with another double-engine ferry, the SB Tikirai.

Moreover, the chief minister stated that the family of Dr. Bikramjit Baruah, who died as well, will be paid in full till his retirement, and that financial assistance will be provided to the families of all the deceased as needed. This will allow the Education Department and the Finance Department to work together to guarantee that appointees get their first salary on schedule.

Indreswar Borah was able to save his wife and other passengers on the vessel after the catastrophic ferry tragedy. He then vanished in the Brahmaputra till September 12th. On that day, his body was found on the banks of the Brahmaputra at a location known as Bhasa Tapu in the Biswanath Ghat region, and he was cremated on the same day at his home campus.

On September 30, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a visit to Indreswar Borah's bereaved family at their home in Pahumora Kanduwa Pothar (Madhavpur) village, Lakhimpur district. Then, when meeting with his father Prabhat Borah and widowed wife Ruprekha Senapoti Borah, he expressed his condolences to the family.
